Hi Sarah,

Keeping the bottles as tight as possible without headspace (although presence of headspace wouldn't affect them as long as they are closed tight) would preserve your water samples for a while. Screw capped bottles from any of the suppliers would work fine. In our lab we store them in a glass bottles and are preserved very well.
