Hi Greg,

go along with the way Gerry describes. However, this will only give you a very
limited overview over the ISL language. I have asked the programmers at
Finnigan more than two years ago to provide a manual giving all functions and
procedures available to the user. My problem then was to find a function for
controlling the Joystick port, which can't be found in their "online" help.
After a couple of phone calls, finally someone came up with the correct
function name.

Ever since, nothing seems to have changed. I am still waiting for a manual to
come out. In my opinion this ISL language is the meanest thing they
introduced. In the older software versions, you only had to drag+drop some
items (timer, joystick) in order to make up a sequence of your own. With the
- more flexible - ISL language nobody can actually program something, since
nobody knows the commands. It looks like C++, but is not entirely like C++
(try to define some string or floating point variables!). I was given advise
to "go and look through the routines and libraries provided with the
software" if I wanted to look for new commands.

Just not good.

Cheers

Peter
