Greetings,
the Finnigan Gasbench is deliverd with an Acid Pump
(modified version of a precision despenser from FMI
http://www.fmipump.com/pip.html).
However, this pump seems not to be an "ideal solution" (to act polite)
for bringing the acid into the sample vial.
Especially the belt transmission is realised with wheels made out of an
wood an a elastic band...
Wheelsspin often happens, so that the pump is not working properly.
The tension of the rubber band can be increased but I am at maximum now.
The friction on the wheels seems to be too low. We now use the "manual
acid dosing" suggested by Ian Cartwright, which works fine, but we still
try to bring the automatic system on line.
Has anybody figured out some quite good modifications of the pump itself
and the automatic acid dropping system of the Gasbench?
Greetings,
Robert
