Hi Stefano,
Take care to purify the CO2 after equilibration (get rid of any HCl in
gaseous form with the CO2, it certainly is corrosive in the ion source) - I
hope that can be done by GC, or else by solid chemical trap.
Another point of interest might be how HCl in solution effects the
fractionation factor of the H2O - CO2 equilibration! Depends also on
concentration of HCl of course (in your case 1M).
Not giving you 'exact' solutions to your problem, but at least some
direction. Hope it is helpful.
