If I understand you, you can reset the communications successfully and
not get an error message. Does it then fail immediately you try to do
something or does it work for a while and then fail? On the old DI 2.4
software under the menu 'Analysis > Parameter file edit... > Gilson
parameters' there is an option 'RS232 debug enabled - T/F'. If you
enable this all sent and received comms are echoed to the message
window. I hope you can still do that with the new software.
When I had comms problems with the Gilson, the monitor in the software
wasn't enough and I installed an RS232 monitor program that shows the
hexadecimal characters sent and received. The Gilson should echo every
command received and so the hex characters (odd looking hyroglyphics)
should be the same. For what it is worth, in my case they weren't and
the problem was a faulty serial port on my ancient computer (some
commands got through, some didn't). If you google 'RS232 monitor
freeware' you should find suitable software.
