Dear Colleagues,
We would like to again call to your attention a session, at the upcoming
Goldschmidt 2008 Conference, focusing on the incorporation of biosignatures
into the "rock record" (session description below).
Note that the deadline for submission of abstracts for this conference is
fast-approaching, on March 1 (Conference website:
http://www.goldschmidt2008.org/).
Session 19g: Isotopic biogeochemical tracers into the ancient rock record
Convenors: Gray Bebout, Pierre Cartigny, James Farquhar
Keynote Speaker: Ariel Anbar (Arizona State University)
This session examines the preservation of isotopic biogeochemical
signatures/tracers, in the rock record, that provide information about the
emergence of life, evolving metabolic pathways, changes in atmospheric and
oceanic composition, and the cycling of biosignatures into and within
Earth's crust and mantle. We seek contributions that draw on isotopic
measurements to infer past biogeochemical processes and cycles. Extending
this approach, we encourage studies that explore strategies for detecting
and studying extraterrestrial life.
Please e-mail any of the three of us with questions regarding this session.

Pierre Cartigny ([log in to unmask])
James Farquhar ([log in to unmask])
