We routinely use quartz filter in our EA-Conflo-Delta system. It presents no
problem and minimal N blank.

Subject: [ISOGEOCHEM] Glass microfibers in EA?
Dear List -
Our laboratory has an EA (Carlo Erba NA1500) interfaced with an Optima
stable isotope ratio (continuous flow) mass spec. A colleague has
requested analysis of 15N materials on quartz glass microfiber
filters. The concentrations of 15N do not concern me, but I wonder if the
microfiber material may present a combustion problem. Other problems? Any
experience or thoughts on the matter would be appreciated - still fairly
new to the instrument!
Thanks, MD
