Hi Glen
A while ago we used Dräger tubes (used to detect concentration of various gases in industrie) connected in line with adapters (Swagelok) to filter the H2S produced from certain CO2 carbonate acide reactions. The idea came from Rick Heemskerk at the U of Waterloo during a lunch discussion at a restaurant (where all good ideas are often hatched). It worked for us. However keep in mind that this was under vacuum conditions at the time. I am not certain what the Dräger tubes packing is (maybe lead acetate), but the principal reaction is:
H2S + Pb(2+)=> PbS + 2H+
