Hello all,
I want to invite those of you who are interested in stable isotopes in
precipitation and meteoric waters to check out www.WaterIsotopes.org,
which is the new version of the water isotopes web site I've been
running for a couple of years.
The theme of the site is spatial applications of water isotope data, and
the content includes: 1) information on spatial analysis and application
of stable water isotope data, 2) data-access tools, including image
files and ArcGIS grids of water isotope maps and an interactive form
providing point estimates of precipitation isotope ratios (e.g., you
type in a location and you get estimated water isotope ratios), and 3) a
(preliminary) bibliography and web-resources section. The maps and
point-estimator are meant to provide a common, well-documented source
for water isotope ratio estimates. They are based on my own database of
precipitation water isotope ratio measurements (GNIP + published
sources, updated as new measurements become available) and interpolation
methods developed for use with water isotope data. These are meant to
compliment available observational data from precipitation-monitoring
stations, and I always encourage users to explore the raw observational
data available for their regions of interest.
I hope some of you find this material to be of use, and I am always open
to comments and suggestions that will improve this site and/or any other
aspect of my work! I will be expanding the content of the site as my
work progresses, and particularly welcome any suggestions for new or
useful content and/or any recommendations for published data sources
that could be incorporated in this work.
Happy isotoping,
Gabe
