Dear lake core researchers and other interested parties:

A workshop funded by NSF was held March 23-24, 2006, in Salt Lake City, 
Utah, to discuss the need and potential benefits of a free or low-cost 
community-access lake core analysis facility and core/data repository.

The workshop participants agreed that a repository and core analysis 
facility were necessary and identified various benefits of such a 
facility.  Some issues generated differing views.  The participants 
decided that broader input from the community would be helpful and 
formulated a questionnaire.  We hope that you will help us gather more 
input by providing us with your opinions.  The questionnaire will take 5 
to 10 minutes to complete.
