Dear Deborah,
I take it as read you have checked and double-checked the source before and
after re-installation for shorts and the only continuity you see is across
connectors 2 and 3 (at 6 and 5 o'clock as you look at the source once put
back into the analyzer)?
Have a look at the source board (the large board sitting upright to the
right of the turbo controller/s; you have to take the right side cover off)
and check how many LEDs are on. There are 4 in total and 3 should be on; on
near the top edge of the board (red) and two near the bottom edge towards
the right corner (green and red).
I suspect from what you're describing, the green/red pair are on and the top
red one is off.
Select your standby source tune file (HV zero, Trap zero, the rest is not
that important) and switch the source (electronics) off. All LEDs should be
off now (ignore the flicker while switching off; Lenz's Rule and all that).
Take the source connector off (the Teflon block on the source flange).
Switch the source (electronics) back on and load e.g. your CO2 tune file.
Check the LEDs now.
My guess is, the greed/red pair is on but the red is still off. If that's
the case, call SerCon Man to the rescue. Either a part on the source board
has pegged it or a part on the power supply unit for the source board is
dead.
Sorry I can't be offer more help.
