Post-Doctoral Position; Forensic Isotopes (1 year).
Start time: January or February 2007.

The Department of Earth Sciences and the G.G. Hatch Isotope Laboratory at the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, has a Post-Doctoral position available for a research project in Forensic isotopes.  The applicant will be involved in a Canada wide study linking diet and local water and protein isotopic analysis.  We are particularly interested in candidates focused on research areas that include archaeology, biology or environmental isotope applications.  The successful applicant will need to work with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Forensic Science & Identification Services laboratory and thus must pass a security check.  Samples have already been, or are in the process of being, collected.

The successful candidate will be required to attend the November/December 2007 the Forensic Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (FIRMS) Network conference in New Zealand and present project results.

Presently the project is for 1 year and may be expanded as the data evolves.

Salary:  $36,000/Yr; plus University of Ottawa benefits.

Minimum Qualification:  Ph.D. in the fields of Biology, Earth, or Archaeological Sciences or related field.  Ph.D. must be completed or expected by start date.  Hands-on experience in stable isotope mass spectrometry is expected.
