One 'fun' way is to place a rather expensive and sensitive balance close to the mass spec and then wonder why the damned thing will not tare when the ms is in operation.

Hi Melanie,
I checked influence by monitoring one MS with CO2 on the side of a peak
and and have the other MS jump the magnet from zero to max (like when
you start a slow magnet scan on Thermo machines). If there's no
influence, ride the MS half a meter away and your sure.
