To those of you with the Los Gatos Research liquid water instrument,
Does you ring-down time change?
Historically, we had version 1 of this instrument, the ring-down time
would be about 7.2 us (micro seconds). This particular instrument would go
back to LGR for cleaning and recalibration when the ring-down time would
drop 1-2 us (5 us when we put salt into it...ooops). We recently had this
instrument upgraded to version 2 and had an initial ring-down time of 6.2
us. I know the exact ring-down time is specific to each instrument. Last
month, our instrument, again, dropped by 1 us to 5.2 us. This change was a
step function and happened between injections at a time when no person was
in the lab.
I am wondering if any of you see big changes in your ring-down time and
if so, what you do about it? Along with this drop in ring-down time, we
see poor precision. Thank you.
