Hi Emma,

For _"internal"_ laboratory water standard you need rather greater tank 
than ampules, because you have to use this standard every time when 
doing isotopic determinations of waters. If you need more info, I can 
provide you with some photos of my tank which is connected to argon gas 
cylinder.
For _International_  water standards (VSMOW, VSLAP, VGISP... etc) in my 
opinion it is better to divide them and seal in ampules; for my 
standards I used 5 ml ampules with long "neck" (as provided by Chemglass 
for example..) and I didn't use any gas when sealing ampules with 
standards. Up to date (over 4 years) all standards are in good 
conditions. The capacity of an ampule you should choose yourself 
depending on how much water you need for one sample (for example... 
equilibration with CO2 ..).
