Hi everyone,
I'm writing to ask if anyone has had problems mounting their turbo
pumps to the source block when aluminum gaskets are used along with
eight claw clamps. We have a Delta plus which uses Pfeiffer turbo
and rotary vane pumps. Although mounted vertically, the source turbo
(TMH260-005) is quite heavy so it is hard to hold the turbo in place
with one hand while trying to screw in enough clamps to keep the pump
in place/centered. We seem to have damaged two aluminum gaskets
($80 each) simply by trying to remount the turbo. I am guessing it
would not take much for the heavy turbo to damage the soft aluminum
gasket if they pump into each other too hard or at the wrong angle.
Has anyone experienced similar difficulties? Can the claw clamps
themselves fail with time/use? Can anyone recommend how to remove
nicks from the turbo flange that might also be causing a leak?
Thanks!
Joe
