The past few times I changed our valve seals we had a local machine shop to
resurface the gold stamps and they work great even after three times of
resurfacing. The gold rings I have been making out of pure gold wire bought
from Scientific Instrument Services (http://www.sisweb.com/), however, this
does require soldering the wire ends together. If you do not feel up to this
I am sure a local jeweler could do this for you at a minimal cost. This was
the cheapest solutions I could find.

Subject: [ISOGEOCHEM] Gold Gaskets
Hello
Does anyone have a source for cheaper spares for the vacuum valves on the
Kiel with MAT253 device than Thermo charge? We have had to replace stamps
on several of our valves, and need gold stamps and gaskets.
Alternatively we do have facilities for making these parts, but we're not
sure of the original gauge of the wire used in the seals. Also, what gold
purity (99.999%)? is required for the stamps and seals.
Hoping someone has already been through this and can suggest suppliers.
Yours,
John Hill
