Dear Gilles,

we purchased our mass spec in 1990 (a Finnigan MAT delta S) and in the
first year there was problem with the electric magnet. It worked, but
inproperly (the ion beam signal was unstable, supposedly the magnet coil
was broken) . We were told that problem with electric magnet is
extremely rare, but may happen. The Finnigan replaced the magnet with an
other one and it has been working fine for 14 years.
