Could the fish have been feeding on invertebrates that have fed on epilithic algae from high-energy systems (riffles or high wave-action littoral of a lake)?
I have recorded d13C values of >-15 ‰ from grazing gastropods (shells removed) collected from these habitats...
All the best
Chris

Sorry about the confusion,
the values are around minus 15 per mil and there is no possibility of
marine influence....
