Arizona State University has an opening for an Assistant Research
Scientist
to manage two secondary ion mass spectrometer (SIMS) labs at ASU. The
successful candidate will oversee an assistant lab manager and two
graduate
students to maintain the two ASU SIMS laboratories. Duties and
responsibilities include: training and scheduling users and assisting
them
in sample preparation, instrument set-up, data acquisition and analysis,
scheduling and implementing maintenance, billing users, and
conducting tours
of the facility. The lab manager will have time available (possibly
up to
50%) for independent/collaborative research, including developing/
refining
SIMS techniques.
Required: Ph.D. in Geology, Geochemistry or related field
and SIMS experience; or M.S. in one of the above fields and at least two
years of SIMS experience.
