I have noticed that several of my old exetainers seal better when I use caps that were ordered at the same time. If I try to thread new caps on some of the older exetainers I have with the old thread I can tell by feel that something is amiss. If I put an old cap (in my case they are either dark green, red, or light blue) the exetainer seems to seal fine (data from the Gas Bench supports this conclusion as well). I am still in the process of seperating the new threaded exetainers from the old to minimize cap/exetainer marriage mishaps.

Subject: [ISOGEOCHEM] Exetainer Leakage?
Hi All...
On a related note, we have been having problems with a recent batch
of exetainer vials purchased from Labco (UK)... The vials are marked
as the "new thread" design... About 1 in 10 seem to leak, which
sometimes trips the source on the machine... Has anybody else had
problems with recently purchased exetainer vials? I think Ill send a
short note to the supplier... We've bought >1000 vials from Labco
over the past 12 months and never had a problem with leakage... Our
old beast of a machine (MAT 252) and GasBench are working fine...
Any insights would be appreciated...
