Might someone provide insight into how exactly, within the source, one tunes for linearity vs sensitivity. Linearity seems to be those tunes with high extraction voltages, removing the ions out of the source more readily. Sensitivity seems to be those tunes with low extraction voltages allowing the ions to mingle. If I have this correct, I don't understand:

1) how a sensitivity tune does in fact yield a greater signal

2) how a sensitivity tune yields different isotope ratio measurements and lower gas quantities
