Hi,
I was wondering if any of you could help us with this problem in our
Finnigan Delta Plus XL. This weekend, one of my students opened the
needle valve for continuous flow work. He then switched the source on,
waited for few minutes to make sure that the water background was
decreasing, and then he put the lid back on top of the
mass-spectrometer. Apparently, one of the sides of this lid fell
somewhat hard on the instrument. After that, the emission and high
voltage LED were flickering. The computer shows that the filament is
off. I can see that the LED for the emission is on, but the one for
high voltage is off. When I pressed the source off, the high voltage LED
comes on briefly and then it faints. Also, when I switched the source
on, there is a high pitch, but barely audible sound coming from the
right panel of the mass-spec. I already checked to see if one of the
wires or connections was loose, but everything seems fine. I am hoping
that any of you could give us some idea about how to fix the problem.
Thanks for your time,
Regards,
German
