Announces TechWorks – Teaching Technology Integration Workshop
Experience It; Reflect on It; Design It.
July 18-21 (4 days)
Rivendell Academy, Orford, NH
TechWorks is a course for district leaders and teachers who want to learn
about or further their understanding how technology can be used as a tool
to support student and teacher inquiry, problem solving, higher order
thinking skills and to extend creative thinking processes. The unique
Techworks "train the trainer" approach will teach you how to conduct
workshops and share your learning with other teachers in your school or
district.
The course will be led by experts in the field of educational technology –
Jill Weber, formerly from TERC, and Peter Dresher from Vermont Institutes.
Both trainers have extensive experience in the implementation issues
facing teachers, schools, and districts using technology.
TechWorks will run for 4 full days in the summer with one or two
follow-up day(s) in the fall. Lunch will be provided during the summer
institute.
What you will learn (course goals):
· Design, develop and implement materials/units and approaches for
professional development and classroom use
· Learn assessment strategies to evaluate your technology-infused
curriculum unit
· Experience and reflect upon good models of teaching with technology
· Conduct a technology integration workshop
· Participate in an active learning community with professionals doing
similar work
What you will do:
Ø Participate in the Summer Institute, 4 consecutive days July 18-21
Ø Participate in 1 or 2 follow-up/refresher dates in the fall.
And you'll get:
Ø Ongoing tech integration support and workshops over two years
Ø Long term sustainability
Who should attend:
Ø School-based staff, including administrators, technology integration
specialists, technology coordinators, library media specialists, teacher
leaders (e.g., teachers serving on a curriculum or technology committee,
or willing to share technology with other teachers)
Ø We encourage teams of leaders and teachers to attend as teams
Expenses:
Ø Registration cost is $350/person before June 1, 2005. Registration cost
after June1, 2005 is $400.00.
Ø This fee includes all course materials, continental breakfast and lunch
on the days of the summer institute.
Ø The cost of lodging and transportation is the responsibility of the
participants and their districts.
Credits:
Ø Three graduate credits are available for the participation in the 4 day
summer institute. The cost of the graduate credit component is $85.00 per
credit and is in addition to the registration fee.
