OK, I'll bite... I appreciate this discussion as we had a SmartBoard on loan
for a few weeks and I still have the feeling that many of the common uses
could be accomplished with a projector and wireless mouse (i.e. IWB as
projection screen only). I am beginning to see that software is essential,
and that there are several packages that can make this a much more
interactive tool. I appreciate the links that have been posted, and I will
be checking them out more closely.

Here's one of the issues I still get stuck on:

What about the position of the teacher? Physically, an IWB forces the
teacher to be "presenting" at the front of the room - a teaching style that
may not work for everyone. This is where I prefer a wireless mouse for the
ability to "roam" and not be board- or computer-centered.
