Hi all
I wanted to give my IT colleagues a heads-up about trainings that the
DOE is going to be doing via the Learning Network of Vermont. See below.
If your school was on the VILN and you have not reconnected to the LNV,
please contact Northeast Computer Systems via Tim King [log in to unmask] or
Paul Garstki [log in to unmask] or me as soon as possible so that we can
facilitate you school's use of the system. People will be asked to RSVP
if they plan to attend the training noted below, but I am anticipating
that we will have interest from schools that are not currently connected
to LNV.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Best wishes,
Arlyn
Title: Upcoming Educator Census Trainings
Audience: Curriculum Coordinators, Special Education Directors, Human
Resources Managers, Principals, Career and Technical Center Directors,
Central Office Administrative Assistants, Guidance Directors
The Educator Quality Division will be providing two training sessions on
how to complete the 2007-2008 Educator Census on February 11, 2008 and
February 14, 2008. Both sessions will be provided via the Learning
Network of Vermont (LNV) and will be from 1:00-3:00 in the afternoon.
Completing the Educator Census accurately is essential since HQT
statistics (including the percentage of core academic subject classes
not taught by highly qualified teachers) are compiled for your local
education agency (LEA) based on the information that you submit to us.
LEAs are required to publicly report these statistics every year. In
addition, HQT statistics are included in required federal reporting by
the state. Reporting errors can result in the calculation of incorrect
percentages of classes being taught by teachers who are not HQT for
their assignment(s). Especially in small schools, even minor errors in
Census reporting can result in big changes in the reported HQT
percentages.
These sessions are open to any interested individuals.
