NAS is like saying I need a computer that I am going to use. Without
classifying the specs you have a whole lot to chose from. We use Promise
and EMD Storage for our low end ISCSI solution hardware and they have
good NAS hardware. What you need to look at is speeds and feeds of the
devices. There is a huge difference between the $100 NAS and the $1000
NAS devices. The low ends ones are fine for small storage and low usage
but once you start hitting it with a few users or lots of transfers it
will crawl. You need to find out the usage and then pick a solution that
can support that usage. The low end ones like Linksys, Buffalo, WD etc
are not designed to large volume usage. You also need to consider
management. The low ends ones have limited to no management, the higher
end ones allow Microsoft AD integration.
Just my 2cents, for what it is worth.

Does anyone have a recommendation for NAS devices ? Seems alot easier
than
building a server. Lots of choices..
I would need abt 500 GB, raid 1 if possible.
Thx
