We, at Mt. Abe, are about to embark on a committee journey to establish guidelines for laptop use and would love to know of any existing guidelines. There is a clear demarkation between the "techies" who don't want any personal laptop use on their networks, vs. the "ed" specialists who want to encourage teacher interaction and comfort with technology at all costs. What is the reality out there? How do we both encourage all of the benefits of the web and wireless technologies for our teachers and students with the safety of our networks?

Do not train children to learning by force and harshness,
but to direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that
you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar
bent of the genius of each. - Plato
