Hi,
There seem to be two scenarios in this threaded discussion:
1. Personally-Owned Equipment for School Use
Chittenden East has a procedure and registration form for
personally-owned equipment (laptops, Blackberries, etc) that have the
potential of accessing our network. The procedure is shown below and
the registration form is attached. Rather than trying to prohibit the
rising tide of such personal devices, we decided to embrace and manage
them. We strongly encourage staff and students to buy from our list of
recommended hardware.
2. School-Owned Equipment for Personal Use
Chittenden East does not have guidelines on the personal use of
school-owned laptops at this time
*------------------------------------------------------------------
Wireless Access and Personal Hardware Access to the CESU Network
Procedure
Personal computers, laptops, PDAs and other medium that can connect to
the CESU network will meet standards set forth by the technology
services team. Any networkable machine, via cable or wireless, must be
registered with the technology services team. The team will maintain a
record of the machine, which should include: make, model, serial number,
mac address and user’s name. The owner or user will sign the document
that indicates the standards that are expected to be met.
Standards for the Owner or User of Personal Devices:
* Current support pack patches applied and updated regularly by
the owner
* Anti-virus software installed and kept current by the owner with
the most recent anti-virus signatures.
* Must abide by the rules detailed in Acceptable Use Procedures of
Computers and the Internet for Students or Acceptable Use Procedures of
Computers and the Internet for Staff
