HI Dave:

Thanks for the email..

The Usenet solution seems do-able... We have IIS 6 running, and it seems
pretty straight forward setting up nntp ...

I understand there is a program Mailman in Fedora which might work as well.
Going to try the MS solution first

I will let the list know what we finally decide on..

Regards,

BC

Hi Bill,
I haven't set up a listserve myself. We looked into it several years ago
when I was at MMU. At that time there didn't seem to be much in the way of
free software.
An internal usenet server could serve a similar purpose and there are
several Linux distributions with usenet servers built in.

Would anyone have advice about hosting a listserv internally ?

We will have about 20 - 25 teachers/staff who will be discussing vocational
topics.

We do not host our web page or email.

Perhaps some good "discussion" software ... Is blogging better ?

Just looking for the easiest/inexpensive solution besides email for people
to discuss a common topic...

Many thanks,

Bill Clark, Austine School for the Deaf
