I thought the following might not be common knowledge, but of great
interest to those responsible for technology at schools. In short, a school
can buy the media for Star Office 6.0 for about $25 and then, after
a no-cost registration, legally install the software on any/all PC's
in the school at no additional cost.
Given that this software is said to be highly compatible with MS
Office (Word and Excel in particular), and Microsoft's ever more
draconian licensing requirements, this may be a welcome alternative
to buying yet more licenses for MS Office.
