Hi Roland:
Yes.  It is a straightforward assay.  If you have a good spectrophotometer
you can follow the reduction reaction of NAD to NADH at 340 nm wavelength.
 The only question is whether you want to do this assay in crude extracts
or in a partially purified protein preparation and also whether you want
to analyze the isotopic signature of the CO2 generated.  You can send me
