we also run a Kiel III with a MAT-252. It still works fine, and despite we have issues from time to time, specially
related to the Kiel, we have never the problem you describe. It does not look an issue with the valves, since you have rebuilt them. And I feel the bent gold gasket is not the origin of the problem, since a) it is soft and presumably will adapt to the valve shape, and b) the issue appeared previously to that bent gold gasket replacement, doesn't it?
We had an issue with the controllers of the valve 13 on July. The electro-valve that controls the compressed air was not working any more, in spite the associated red led was switching on and off when we opened and closed the valve at the computer screen. We simply replaced the electro-valve and the problem was fixed. I feel this is not the issue you have, because when the electro-valve does not work, the valve simply does not respond, but there is not leakage, but you never know... The Kiel is quite tricky.
Maybe it could be a good idea to replace the turbo, just in order to confirm it is not the origin of the problem. I now is it not easy to find a spare turbo (at least for us) but I don't know what more you can do.

Hi All,
I have a mystery leak. Our Kiel III is running with an old 252 and was
still kicking along until I had this problem. I can pump the HV side
down through V6 using the rough pump to VM1=70. When I open V9 to the
turbo, VM1 increases. Initially I thought it was a valve issue, I
rebuilt the block with v6/v9 in it and have double/triple checked all
connections. The turbo was just rebuilt by Pfeiffer and it spins up (to
at least 50% because the green light on the card comes on) so I don't
think there are issues with the pump or connections to the valve.
This leads me back to the valve. New membranes, gold stamps, gold
gaskets, new spring washers and cir-clips (I didn't want to take any
chances). The only issue I saw with the valve rebuild was that one of
the gold gaskets had a little bend in it when I took it out of the
package but I smoothed it out and it fit in the groove on the valve body
without any visible issues.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is it possible the bend (was bent inside
the Thermo package) in the gold gasket could be an issue? I can't
tighten the bolts any tighter....
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
