Somehow I believe that the 'inorganic' S in SO4 and pyrite, etc., might
actually be a product of the environment and precip by organic processes.
However, I would doubt that the sediment and the organic critters are
equilibrated. My comment has nothing to do with the separation, it is only
to point out that there may be a close relationship in the stuff you are
separating away--I think.
