This meeting will be held in honor of P. Edgar Hare, staff scientist at the
Carnegie Institution of Washington's Geophysical Laboratory. The
scientific program will be held in the American Geophysical Union lecture
hall; accommodations have been reserved in a nearby hotel. A reception on
Saturday evening will start the conference, which will end at noon on
Tuesday.
This meeting will cover a wide variety of topics concerning the
geochemistry, diagenesis, and preservation of amino acids and proteins,
including amino acid racemization geochemistry, in vivo racemization and
aging of proteins, stable isotope geochemistry of proteins and amino acids,
archeological biogeochemistry, analytical methods, and extraterrestrial
amino acids. Interested parties should indicate whether or not they would
like to present a talk or poster at the meeting. Abstract deadline is 15
January, 1998. Circulars will be sent to interested participants.
