Environmental Contaminants

Isotopic analyses can be cost effective for resolving problems
in environmental geochemistry and hydrogeology. Compound specific
isotope analysis and continuous flow techniques are revolutionizing
the application of isotopes to a wide range of priority pollutants
including petroleum products, dissolved organic contaminants, and/or
excess nutrients. We solicit examples and case studies of the use of
isotopes to identify the source of contaminants or to monitor their
transformation and attenuation. ORAL
Environmental Geology (6); Geochemistry Aqueous (7); Hydrogeology (13).
Submission of Abstracts:
Abstract deadline is July 8, 1997. Only one volunteered
abstract per speaker. All abstracts, both electronic and paper copy are
to be sent directly to GSA but please send a copy via fax or email to
Barbara Sherwood Lollar at the above address as well.
GSA's electronic abstract system is now available on GSA's home
page at http://www.geosociety.org. Paper submission forms may be obtained
from Nancy Carlson, Abstracts Coordinator, (303)447-2020 x161 or email
