Post-doctoral research positions in Geochemistry / Geochemical Institute,
University of Goettingen, Germany

We are seeking up to three highly qualified postdoctoral researchers in the
following two fields :

1) Oxygen isotope micro-analysis
We are seeking a skilled researcher for our stable isotope laboratory
equiped with UV laser oxygen isotope on-line preparation with a
"continuous-flow" mass-spectrometer. The selected candidate has experience
in stable isotope and continuous-flow mass-spectrometry. Knowledge in UV
laser technology, fluor chemistry and gas chromatography is desirable. The
position is open to experienced postdocs in all research fields of stable
isotope geochemistry.

2) U/Th series geochemistry
Applications are invited for a post doc position in U/Th series
geochemistry. Our small group is presently focussing on U/Th series work on
corals and other marine samples. Preference will therefore be given to
those applicants complementing the U/Th group with their own research,
particularly those interested in the study of young volcanic rocks.
Experience with U/Th mass spectrometry is required.

The positions will be initially filled for one year, starting from January
1998 or later with a possible extension for two more years. Salary is based
on the German civil service salary level BAT IIa (approx. 100.000 DM/year,
including all benefits and before tax).

The Geochemical Institute and other Earth Science institutes in Göttingen
are well equiped with geochemical instrumentation. Cooperation with other
researchers in earth sciences is highly welcome. Further information on
Earth Sciences in Goettingen may be otained from our website
http://WWW.uni-geochem.gwdg.de/docs/home.htm

Applications including vita, a statement of interests and experience, a
research plan, and names, with full addresses of three references should be
sent to Gerhard Woerner, Geochemisches Institut, Universitaet Goettingen,
Goldschmidtstr. 1, 37077 Goettingen, Germany. E-mail : [log in to unmask]
