Tenure-track faculty position in light stable isotope geochemistry.
The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Texas at
Austin
seeks a light stable isotope geochemist with research interests in one or
more of the following areas of sedimentary geology: 1) origin and
diagenesis of silicate and carbonate sedimentary rocks, 2)
paleoceanography, and 3) biogeochemistry. We seek an individual with broad
technical expertise in a variety of light stable isotope systems and
analytical methods, and an ability to establish a vigorous research program
and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful
applicant will have an interest in extending stable isotope research to a
variety of scientific problems and in interacting with faculty and students
in a range of Earth science disciplines at UT (visit our web site at
www.geo.utexas.edu). The department houses two stable isotope mass
spectrometers (VG PRISM and SIRA) and numerous extraction lines, together
with a range of other high-quality analytical facilities (thermal
ionization and K-Ar mass specs, electron probe, ICP, IC, XRD, SEM, X-ray
tomography). A Ph.D. is required. Please send statement of research and
teaching interests, resume, names and addresses of at least four
references, plus any supplemental information to: Chair, Isotope Search
