Isogeochemists:

Permit me a small complaint! Although I don't have to worry about the time
and expense of downloading files attached to e-mail messages, others do.
Several months ago, when this matter first came up, I thought our
listmembers came to the conclusion that we would try to avoid sending
frequent attachments to e-mail messages to Isogeochem, but instead sending
them only when an individual member wanted to receive it from the original
poster. It seems a simple matter to write at the end of one's post
something to the effect of "I can send an attachment that describes
technique XYZ in more detail to any listmember who would like to receive
it," and let those members contact the poster. Also, it sure would
simplify matters if people noted in their message the format of the
attachment. Something like "the attachment is a Word 6.0 for Macintosh
document" would certainly cut down on my frustration level. Even with all
kinds of translators, there are still some files that I have trouble
converting. I'm sure that some others must be experiencing similar
difficulties. Better yet, save that attachment as a text-file, if it
doesn't include graphics.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Steve
