We were involved in a study a few years ago where we looked at the oxygen
isotope composition of arsenate generated by oxidizing bacteria working on
arsenopyrite. We were hoping that the oxygen data might be helpful as is the
case in identifying sources of sulfate. However it appears that oxygen atoms
exchange fairly quickly between arsenate and water . I thought it worthwhile
to pass on this information in case someone had the same idea for studying
arsenic cycling.-
