FORAMINIFERAL AND OSTRACODE SHELL CHEMISTRY: INNOVATIONS AND APPLICATIONS
TO PALEOCLIMATOLOGY

CALL FOR POSTER CONTRIBUTIONS

Nowadays, there is an accrued interest in combining stable isotopes and
trace elements in biogenic carbonates aiming at reconstructing past
environmental conditions. Experts on marine and non-marine environments
have worked separately and have used the geochemical signals for different
purposes. Different approaches and procedures have frequently been taken.
The proposed session aims to bring together both groups of experts  to
learn from one another's techniques and ideas, and also to agree on
standardized approaches and communication.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS on all aspects of the applications of foraminiferal
and ostracode shell chemistry are welcome. (oral presentations are being
sought separately)

ABSTRACTS should be prepared following the strict AGU guidelines
(http://www.agu.org/meetings/sm99call.html#absinfo). DEADLINES for receipt
of abstracts at AGU headquarters are February 18, 1999 for submission by
postal/express mail and February 25 1999 by interactive web form. These
deadlines are firm and there will be no exceptions. A copy of each abstract
should also be sent to one of the convenors, but this does NOT constitute
formal submission to, or acceptance by, AGU.

NOTE that there will also be a workshop on ostracode biology, ecology and
paleoecology for a better understanding of ostracode shell geochemistry to
be held at the spring meeting (on the day preceding the main meeting). This
will be advertised separately. Posters are welcome, but talks will be by
invitation. Please contact one of the convenors for further details.
