Tim,
I have had an Edwards RV5 pump for nearly four years, and have had absolutely no problems with its performance.

Almost two years ago there was some discussion on this list about vacuum
pumps, with a number of correspondents reporting problems with Edwards
RV-series of pumps and expressing a preference for the older E2M5 pumps.
Edwards no longer lists the E2M5 pumps in their catalog, now showing only
the RV pumps in that size range.
So does anyone have anything good to say about more recent RV pumps? (Has
Edwards resolved the problems?) Does anyone have any experience with the
Welch Directorr pumps (e.g. the 8915A)?
Thanks,
Tim
