Hi Grigore,

It was good to hear from you and to learn of your wonderful opportunity
with Shell in their new program.

I will be happy to send out those two letters you requested I write.
They will not go out until Monday, unless I hear from you that they
should go out sooner.

I am very happy to be back in California. I walked into the U.S.
Geological Survey to say hello to some of my friends and, within one
hour, I was made an official Visiting Scientist and was given an office,
computer account and many more things (use of the stable isotope
laboratory, etc.). It is fantastic and exactly what I was going to
"hint" about. I did not have to beg - it all was offered to me! Now I
can work when I want to work and that is PERFECT.

Instead of writing more to you, I will start on those letters. Maybe I
can get them out this weekend.

Cheers,

Jim
