Dear Colleagues,
The 6th Canadian Continuous Flow-Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry Workshop
has come and gone. Several of you who attended have reported that the
meeting was a success, which is certainly gratifying.
This email addresses a couple of outstanding action items on my plate
arising from the meeting.
1. The "wunder-acoustic foam"
Several of you inquired about the foam panels that we use in the lab to
reduce noise. The company is called:
TECNIFOAM, Inc.
7145 Boone Ave. N.
Minneapolis, MN 55428
PHONE: (612) 537-7000
FAX: (612) 535-1169
http://www.tecnifoam.com/
I checked with the company and the product we use still exists and ships
(with new colours available too!). They eagerly await your calls.
a) On the walls we use:
TFW 2000 Blue 2" Tecnifoam Acoustic Panels (2'x4') Anechoic Wedge
Design
old price: $15.50 each + shipping
(we got 8 for the walls & doors)
b) Over the IRMS we hang:
TFB-3 Blue 3" Technifoam Ceiling Baffle (2'x4') Anechoic Wedge Design
old price: $42.00 ea + shipping
(we got 4 to make a hanging open box above the instrument,
they are rigid and have a metal internal frame + hooks)
2. Location of the next meeting, Year 2000
We are currently looking at the options and will let everyone know as soon
as we can. We will keep our CF-IRMS Workshop web site open (
http://ceor.seos.uvic.ca/CF-IRMS/ ) for information until the new host is
up and running.
3. The Isotope Science e-book
The response to the creation of the e-book, discussed at the meeting, has
been extremely favourable. As a result, I am prepared to go forward with
organizing the site for the on-line reference on isotope sciences. A brief
outline of the goals are given at the above web site. More details on the
e-book will be forthcoming in the coming month, with a call for
contributions.
For those who attended the meeting, thank you for making the information
exchange so enjoyable. For those who did not attend....there is always next
year.
Cheers,
Michael
