TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Department of Geosciences, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas 79409. The
Department invites applications for a tenure-track position in Geographic
Information Systems. Appointment will be at either the Assistant or
Associate Professor level. The PhD is required at the time of the
appointment. The Department expects to be a leader in a college-level
initiative toward development of state-of-the-art GIS teaching and
research. The candidate will teach upper division and graduate-level
courses in GIS and in their chosen research discipline and will conduct and
manage externally funded research. The Department offers the B.S., M.S.,
and Ph.D. degrees. Members of the Department are researching a wide range
of multidisciplinary topics, such as transport and remediation of
contaminants, construction and deformation of magmatic arcs, chemical and
physical nature of the upper mantle, paleoecology and biostratigraphy,
observation of regional weather systems, and the origin and transport of
dust. Screening begins 1 December and will continue until the position is
filled. Send resume, statements of teaching and research interests,
background and experience in GIS, and three letters of reference to Richard
