Laurent,

Why not replace the power supply?  It should be less than $50 us, and is
very easy to replace (and should be a standard part independant of brand
name).  As far as another type of computer, I have no idea for this machine
(or mass specs in general), but a geophysics system I have been working on
recently seems to work just fine with any type of computer hardware despite
the manufacturer's assertions that it wouldn't...the point being that in my
experience when the manufacturer says it won't work its usually because they
haven't tried it, not because of a compatibility problem...

Dear colleagues
One of our Finnigan MAT Deltaplus massSpec has been out of work for
10 days because its controller (GatewayComputer Pentium III PC) has a
broken powerSupply after 3 years of mediocre service, and the company
is not represented in France (unknown repair delay).
That Delta+ is connected to a  Kiel device, which, after more than
one year of problems, did run to specifications until the
microcomputer breakdown.
We learned from FINNIGAN that there are no useful possibilities with
other PC: we need to get a new GatewayPC (2 more weeks delay at least)
2 questions:
1/ Is it bad luck, or a recurrent problem with the Delta plus and its
Gateway PC?
2/ Did you experiment with success using other PC's?
