Dear Pier (and interested audience),
it is always nice to have access to scientific publications on the web.
Usually I load the paper down and print it so that I can read it
somewhere else, e.g. at a conference, during vaction, while traveling or
at other odd places that do not necessarily have phone jacks. With a
book like yours that is a little different. This needs to be at the
institutes library so that students can stumble over it and dig into it
right away if it catches their interest. You do not learn basic science
from the internet, you need teachers and text books for this purpose.
Thus, here is my recommendation and conclusion: Please, give first
priority to a publication as a real and true book that students can
discover by accident and that I even can take home and read whereever I
like. In addition make it available on the net so that people who get
hints about specific chapters in the book can get them through this
distribution channel.
Cheers Willi
