It seems he did not; as he said, his mailserver might have stripped
the attachment - which must have happened, he says he saw only
the first two parts. Part 3 (a separate message, actually) must have
been the virus - a pity I silently discarded it, now I can't take a
look at it.

Most listserver programs can be setup to filter out dangerous
message body parts (I personally think that leaving text/plain
as the only option for a mailing list is enough).
