Tenure Track position - Biogeochemistry
University of Saskatchewan

The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan
invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biogeochemistry. We are
interested in candidates with expertise in organic biogeochemistry, and who
have a strong background in the development and application of stable
isotope analytical techniques directed to understanding the processes
operating at the interface between living systems and the
earth-ocean-atmosphere system. The successful candidate will have a strong
analytical background, be prepared to develop a vigorous research program by
supporting and supervising graduate and undergraduate student research, and
be committed to teaching at all levels within the Department. At the time of
appointment candidates must hold a Ph.D., and previous teaching and research
experience is preferred. The position is at the Assistant Professor level,
although outstanding candidates may be considered at a higher level.
The Department has 14 full-time faculty, including two endowed research
chairs in Geochemistry. The Analytical Geochemistry Facility is
well-equipped, and includes TIMS/NTIMS, dual-inlet GIRMS, laser ablation
ICP-MS, electron microprobe, XRD, and SEM. In addition a state-of-the-art
Trace Metal Clean Room has been completed, and funds have been obtained for
CF-IRMS and MC-ICP-MS technology. Special opportunities exist for innovative
collaborations with researchers from the Colleges of Agriculture,
Engineering, Medicine, and Veterinary Medicine, the Canadian Wildlife
Service, the Canadian Centre for Water Research, and the Centre for
Toxicology. In addition, the first synchrotron light source in Canada is
under construction on the campus.
