>Hi Bob:

I suspect that you meant to ask me about our new ion microprobe
analyses of oxygen in zircons, including a suite of detrital zircons
from Western Australia that includes the newly discovered 4.4 Ga
crystal with a d18-O of 7.4%o. This was reported last Jan. 11 in
Nature. William Peck is a co-author and an Assistant Professor at
Colgate now. He will be attending Goldschmidt and is planning to talk
about this work. It was part of his PhD, and he and I made the
analyses together in Edinburgh. I will attend AGU, but can't go to
both meetings.

We are unsure of which session to submit William's abstract. Would it
be possible to invite William and to give him an extra 5 minutes? he
has a lot of unpublished oxygen data from these samples and can use a
bit more time in order to put them into context. If you wish to
invite him, his email is [log in to unmask]

I'm sorry that I will miss you at the meeting.

cheers, John
